Woodland boys track and field team wins regional title, Girls finish 2nd.

The Wildcats triumphed at the Region 7, 5A track and field championship meeting held at Calhoun High on April 24 and April 25.

Cartersville came in second, while Calhoun finished third. Cass posted fourth overall at the championship.

In the girls’ division, Cartersville finished first, with Woodland placing second. Calhoun came in at third while Cass finished in fourth place.

In the boys’ competition, Cass’ Colin Holt finished first in the triple jump while fellow Colonel Sacovie White placed first in the high jump event.

Holt also finished third overall in the boys’ 200 meter dash event.

Cass’ JaShaun Brown Whatley finished third in the triple jump competition. He likewise finished third in the 110 meter hurdles event.

Samson Stevenson finished third in the pole vault event for Cass while Adam Pierce finished second in the 800 meter run.

Cass’ 4×800 meter relay team finished second, as did the team’s 4X200 meter relay squad. The Colonels’ 4X400 meter relay team finished fourth at the meet.

For the Lady Colonels, Kaitlyn Godwin finished first in the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash and 400 meter dash events.

Nyliah Woods finished second in the long jump and fourth overall in the triple jump.

Nakayla KK Evans finished first in the high jump while Kiana McDaniel finished second in the shot put event.

The Lady Colonels’ 4X100 meter relay team also placed first at the meet.

For the Purple Hurricanes, Myles Forristall placed first in the shot put competition; fellow Cartersville athletes Nick Kennedy and Jaylen Scott finished third and fourth, respectively, in the same event.

Scott also came in second in the discus throw, while Forristall finished fourth in the event.

Cartersville’s Kendrick Price placed first in the 100 meter dash event, while Stephen Roswer finished first in the 200 meter dash.

Cam’ren Collum finished second in the high jump; Will Feuerbach and Kemarie Mitchell posted third and fourth overall in the 300 meter dash.

Malachi Vosburgh placed first in the 1600 meter run; he also placed second in the 3200 meter run.

Cartersville’s boys’ teams finished first in the 4X200 meter relay and 4X400 meter relay events. The Purple Hurricanes also placed second in the boys’ 4X100 meter relay and fourth in the 4X800 meter relay.

For the Lady Canes, Elizabeth Hardy finished first in the pole vault event while Anna Grace Boone finished first in the 800 meter run and the 1600 meter run.

Taff Bradley finished second in the discus throw, while Amirra Davis finished second in the high jump. Paris Moultrie finished fourth overall in the shot put event.

Alex Hampton placed second in the 400 meter dash; Leyla Booth finished third in the 300 meter hurdles and Elizabeth Nelson placed third in the 800 meter run.

The Lady Canes’ 4X400 meter relay team finished first overall, while the 4X200 meter relay team finished third.

The Lady Canes placed second in the 4X800 meter event and fourth in the 4X100 meter relay.

For the Wildcats, Andy Forsyth placed first in the 800 meter run while Tyler Jones placed first in the 3200 meter run. Jamarion Walker also came in first in the 400 meter dash event.

Jones also finished third in the 1600 meter run; Walker also placed second overall in the 200 meter dash event and fourth in the long jump.

Noah Baer finished second in the pole vault event and Christiaan Vera placed third in the high jump.

Zachary Wiggins finished second in the 300 meter hurdles and fourth in the 110 meter hurdles. Drew Thayer placed third in both the 800 meter run and 1600 meter run events. Landon McSwain finished third in the 3200 meter run.

Woodland’s boys’ 4X800 meter relay team finished first overall at the meet. The boys’ 4X400 meter relay team placed second overall while the 4X200 meter relay team finished fourth.

For the Lady Wildcats, Kionco Bassler finished first in the 300 meter hurdles while Danielle Thayer finished first in the 3200 meter run.

Thayer also placed second overall in the 800 meter run event and second place in the 1600 meter run.

Bassler also placed third in the 100 meter hurdles event.

Ava Whatley placed third in the discus throw while Gillian Bergman finished third in the pole vault event.

Jah’Liyah Long finished third overall in the shot put event and Morgan Cherry placed fourth overall in the 200 meter dash. Olivia Berry finished third in the 1600 meter run and second in the 3200 meter run.

Abigail George placed fourth in the 400 meter dash and Addison Brown finished fourth in the 3200 meter run.

Woodland’s girls’ 4×800 meter relay team placed first overall while the 4X400 meter relay team placed third overall.
