Woodland sweeps non-region volleyball matches

STAFF REPORT

The Woodland High volleyball team swept a pair of non-region matches Tuesday night at home.

In the first match, the Wildcats took down Haralson County, 25-12 and 25-21. They then turned around and beat Model, 25-22 and 25-19.

Sydney Molinaro produced well-rounded stat lines in each match for the Lady Wildcats. She had eight kills, eight assists, five digs and two blocks on the day.

“We didn’t play with good focus and intensity against Haralson, but bounced back and did a much better job against Model,” Woodland head coach David Condon said of the day’s results. “We’re still not executing as well as I’d like and our decision making needs to improve at times, but overall, I’m pleased with how we’re progressing.”

Cass splits pair at home

The Cass High volleyball team split a pair of non-region matches Tuesday, beating Pepperell in two sets and losing to Hiram in three.

Keegan Krause had five kills, Riley Nelson had four and Maria Piliposyans had three blocks to help Cass beat Pepperell by scores of 25-14 and 25-21.

In a hard-fought match against Hiram, Cass lost the first set, 25-13, but bounced back to win the second set, 25-23, before dropping the last set, 15-8.

It’s the second straight split for the Colonels, who won a three-setter with Armuchee and fell to Calhoun last week. Next up for Cass is a Thursday trip to Model.
