WILDCATS COMPLETE SWEEP OF YELLOW JACKETS

The Wildcats got a big regional win on April 13, besting Calhoun 3-2 on the road.

Chase Carson recorded one RBI and a double for Woodland, with four additional players — Jakiyon Porter, Connor Stermer, Mason Williams and Julian Wright — posting one hit a piece in the win.

Hunter Shirley pitched for five innings, ultimately amassing 10 strikeouts for the Wildcats. Zach Lambert stepped in for the last two innings and recorded one strikeout en route to securing the win for Woodland.

The victory on April 13 gives Woodland a clean three-game sweep in the team’s series against Calhoun.

In an April 11 double header, Woodland defeated Calhoun 8-7 in game one and 11-0 in game two.

Calhoun drops to 9-16, overall, this season, with a 6-6 record in Region 7, 5A competition.

The Wildcats improve to 15-12, overall, with a 9-3 record in regional play.

Up next for Woodland is a three-game series against Cass (10-15, overall, and 5-7 in regional competition.)

A double header is scheduled at Cass on April 17, with game one set for 5 p.m. and game tow set for 7:30 p.m.

The third and final game of the series will take place at Woodland on April 18. That game has 5:55 p.m. listed as the time of the first pitch.
