Coach Tafoya grew up in a volleyball family, playing for 7 years for her dad’s volleyball club. She played for Etowah High School for two years before focusing on coaching at E.T. Booth Middle School and refereeing for both GHSA and SRVA. Since then, Coach Tafoya has stayed active in the volleyball community through college intramural at Georgia Southern University, coaching a tryout clinics with NAVC, and cheering on her three younger sisters and their teams at various volleyball clubs, Etowah High, and Andrew College. 
 
Coach Tafoya is currently in her sixth year teaching Chorus at Woodland Middle School at Euharlee.
